New bird waterer a hit with feathered friends

Our newly installed bird watering station provides safe access to clean drinking water to species that call Kings Park home.

The station was developed and installed in Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park after consultation with the Town of Victoria Park and Birdlife Australia.

This ideal location is surrounded by mature native vegetation, frequented by a broad range of birdlife, with close proximity to a suitable water connection.

So far we have observed both Carnaby's black cockatoos and red-tailed black cockatoos enjoying a drink on a number of occasions, along with wattle birds and honeyeaters.

Installing this waterer joins Kings Park to a growing list of over 40 sites throughout the Perth metro area.

Providing access to safe, clean water, in conjunction with native flora in urban bush reserves, parkland and home gardens, helps create essential green corridors for roost and nest sites for our urban native birds.

This project was made possible by income from our Horticultural Workshop series in autumn 2023.

We love the opportunity to share our knowledge with workshop attendees and greatly appreciate being able to utilise income in the improvement of our horticultural, environmental and educational offerings.
